ITG Newsletter, Response Plan Completion
Introduction
ITG's Infrastructure Management Review Board (MRB) has completed its Emergency Management Response Plan (EMRP). This document is now accessible to all ITG employees through their public Outlook folder entitled "EMRP."
"Our Company concluded some time ago that the design, testing, documentation and implementation of an Emergency Management Response Plan are required," stated Michael Angelakis, ITG President and CEO. "The potential of localized natural and otherwise disasters, demand that we are prepared for operational readiness and business continuity," he added.
Background
This plan originated as ITG's Inclement Weather Policy and Support Plan, designating the essential employees and instructing them on what steps to take during inclement weather scenarios and local and national emergencies.
Members of the Infrastructure MRB and essential support personnel began a series of tests in the fall of 2005. These included a test for Call Operators to transfer incoming customer calls to Technical Account Managers' (TAMs') cell phones while working at the Depot facility, as well as a test for TAMs to utilize ITG's Common Enterprise Resources (CENTRE) in the event of real-time CENTRE inaccessibility. Members of the Infrastructure MRB also reviewed power requirements for both facilities.
Development
The plan evolved to include processes for utilizing backup generators, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to enable employees to work from home, backup Call Operations coverage with employee cross training, phone line redirection, and answering service assistance for handling calls when the physical buildings are not inhabitable. Each of these processes is documented in the EMRP. These processes apply for both the ITG headquarters facility and the nearby Depot facility where the Electronic Repairs and Logistics departments carry out their work.
Implementation
The EMRP document is now available to all ITG employees through their public Outlook folder entitled "EMRP." ITG will provide management training on how the EMRP Plan works. We will also begin conducting sample testing of the EMRP Plan with the answering service, TAMs, and the emergency backup Call Operators.
The Network Manager will post a notice on the ITG website when we are operating under emergency conditions so that customers and employees will be aware of the situation.
