Presented by ITG's
Accessibility Solutions Group
This one-day course will provide users of Assistive Technology with the essential skills they need to search for, retrieve and share information stored on the Internet. All users of Assistive Technology and any persons who train or supervise persons that use Assistive Technology are welcome. Unlike any other training course, each student will be operating a workstation with his or her preferred Assistive Technology. Each participant will be provided with accessible reference materials including keyboard shortcuts and supplemental documents on various processes he or she learned in the course. At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to perform the following:
  • Configure Internet Explorer to function optimally with a variety of Assistive Technologies
  • Understand Internet terminology and jargon
  • Employ strategies for navigating through a variety of web pages including search engines and search results, newspapers and commercial shopping sites
  • Complete web-based forms
  • Navigate through HTML-based help
  • Identify the types of objects found on most web pages
  • Find text on a web site
  • Download files from the Internet

ITG's courses are taught in a state of the art computer classroom that features the latest Assistive Technology for persons with disabilities. This technology includes screen readers, large print software, voice recognition software, Optical Character Recognition systems, Braille displays, embossers and other hardware for persons with disabilities. Our Training Center also has a variety of peripheral hardware devices and a network server to replicate virtually any work environment. Our instructors have extensive experience teaching Microsoft Office applications together with Assistive Technology. They create a fun and inclusive experience for all participants. Upon completion of the course, each student is provided with a Certificate of Participation as well as print, Braille and electronic reference materials from the course.
