Emergency Management Plan

Introduction

ITG enjoyed a robust 2005 across the spectrum of its activities. Achievements included the creation of a separate, secure company (ITGSP), diversification of contract activity with the introduction of successful United States Agency for International Development (USAID) task orders abroad, the attainment of a CMMI Maturity Level 3 appraisal rating, the conversion of internal systems in compliance with the Section 508 standard, and the continued improvement of contract backlog, operations and earnings.

Formation of Management Review Boards

The formation of several Management Review Boards (MRBs) in 2005 led to increased employee involvement in decision-making. These Boards are comprised of employees from a cross-section of the company, and have horizontal authority to implement improvements in ITG’s quality system. The Infrastructure MRB is conducting tests for the implementation of a fault tolerant voice and data processing environment for the entire company as well as developing and implementing a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan.

The Logistics MRB and the Subcontractor Relations Group has initiated a Remote Warehouse pilot program, which will help to reduce shipping costs and delivery times. The Software Engineering MRB reviews software requirements for improvements to our CENTRE (Common Enterprise Resource) system, the largest improvement being the implementation of a new Projects module in the first quarter of 2006. The Training and Certifications MRB in conjunction with the Labor Resources department has implemented CENTRE training for all staff as well as training requirements for critical positions. The TAM and SME/Operations MRB reviews and evaluates the TAM and SME Reference Guide.

Achievement of Best Practices

Having earned the CMMI Maturity Level 2 and 3 ratings for its systems and software engineering processes from the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) of Carnegie Mellon University in November, ITG is gearing up for CMMI Maturity Level 4 and ISO 20000. This effort follows on the heels of the registration of ITG’s quality management system to the ISO 9001:2008 Standard in December 2004. The Best Practices office and Management Review Board, led by Lefteris Karmiris, continues to schedule and manage periodic internal audits and surveillance audits. The purpose is to ensure that ITG maintains its ISO 9001:2000 certification as it continues to pursue and attain additional Best Practices.

The Accessibility Solutions Group enhanced its capabilities with the addition of Harris Rosensweig. Harris has been in this field for over a decade and the last five years were with The Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind in Auckland, New Zealand. He possesses extensive knowledge of the Adaptive technology (hardware and software) and how to assess the needs of clients in the workplace. Due to his vast expertise with the technology, Harris has applied his knowledge in conducting assessments to achieve compliance within Section 508. Most recently, Harris was invited to lecture at the Assistive Technology Industry Association conference in Orlando, Florida on Voice Recognition and Blindness: A Primer for AT Professionals.
