Adaptive Equipment for SSA

Adaptive Equipment for the Social Security Administration

When the Social Security Administration (SSA) sought a partner to help them achieve compliance with Section 508 legislation, requiring equal usability and access to technology to their 1,700 disabled employees nationwide, the agency turned to ITG for Adaptive Equipment.

What is Section 508?

Section 508 is an amendment to the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Enforced since 2001, this legislation requires that electronic and information technology (EIT) developed or purchased by the Federal Government be made accessible to people with disabilities.

ITG knows that disabilities don’t have to stand in the way of delivering high levels of performance. Our well-recognized accomplishments with assistive technologies (AT) have empowered disabled people for over ten years. Assistive Technologies provide technology access and operability to disabled employees of government and private sector organizations.

Our Services:

Source, deploy, install and support adaptive equipment and software, including:

  • PCOM
  • NS Elite
  • Winset
  • VIP
  • Configure, integrate and test software and devices
  • Train and support users or devices, software and SSA-developed applications
  • Provide on-call technical maintenance with a 24-hour turn around (labour, parts, tools, test equipment, diagnostic software, and transportation)

ITG has formed a core team of professionals that combines technical managers and subject matter experts, with a deep understanding of adaptive equipment and software, how it is used and maintained, and how best to train and support users. At ITG, we understand the needs of the disabled community. We work closely with AT manufacturers for access to the latest and most efficient solutions.

Our geographical reach lets us fill rush orders faster than the stringent requirements of the contract demand. We consistently deliver 30% faster than the contract requirement. Our use of CENTRE (Common Enterprise Resource), ITG’s project management tool, which provides compliance with ISO, ITIL, and CMMI, offers the Social Security Administration instant access to the status of open and closed service calls, installation schedules, and training levels and needs.

Our Focus

Helping persons with disabilities achieve high levels of job performance through the integration of assistive and mainstream technologies remains the focus of our work in this area. Our long history with the SSA enables us to provide SSA employees who use AT with services that take into consideration their unique needs and abilities in the areas of installation, configuration and training. We have established close ties with SSA’s internal IT staff to ensure smooth installations of AT within their environments.

We provide thorough one-on-one training, tailored to everyone, always respectful of their dignity and potential. We understand at a detailed level what is needed to help each person achieve success.

Delivering uncompromising performance is the philosophy of ITG.

In our Accessibility Solutions group, uncompromising performance is also what we empower in our customers.
